This weekend Dole & their Banana Cabana are going to be in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia in an attempt to encourage people to “peel the love“. The tours are simultaneously occuring on both the east & the west coast, and the goal is to reacquaint Americans with the fun and versatility of bananas, and provide new and innovative ways to use them in recipes.
During their stops, the tour will provide banana recipes from the Dole Test Kitchen, recipe booklets, free product samples, banana-themed kid’s activity sheets and other free giveaways. The recipes they will be sampling will range from exciting entree ideas such as Caribbean Jerk Shrimp & Banana Kebobs to Banana Pineapple Coconut Smoothies, thanks to their perfect partnership with Blue Diamond Almond Breeze.
I mean, look at some of these recipes. If these can’t entice you, I don’t know what could 😉
If you’re in the Hampton Roads area, be sure to check them out at one of their stops this weekend:
So, while we’re on the subject of bananas, let’s talk about my favorite banana recipes. I make pretty epic loaves of banana bread, a amazing banana pudding, and of course I occasionally throw a frozen banana in a green smoothie, but my all time favorite banana recipe is for banana pudding cupcakes.
I first blogged this recipe about three years ago. Back then I had no real idea what I was doing, and I was using a crappy Android phone for my photos. Despite the original Cool Whip frosting and horrible photos, this is the most pinned recipe on my blog, and it’s my favorite cupcake recipe ever. But, since all of my skills have improved since 2011, I’m going to share an improved recipe for my famous banana pudding cupcakes. I posted it yesterday, so click here to check it out!
So be sure to stop by Norfolk or Oceana this weekend (or find a Banana Cabana in your own city), buy some bananas and try out this recipe!
