We spent the last two weekend in North/South Carolina. Weekends home are expensive. So, this weekend we stayed home and took it easy.
We ate good food. Friday night I had tilapia on the menu, but I wasn’t feeling it, so we ordered from Donatos instead. Donatos is literally in the parking lot of our apartment complex. Everything we’ve ever ordered from there has been delicious. The toppings are good, the marinara is awesome, and the cheese bread is some of the best I’ve ever had.
Since we’ve been gone the past two weekends, we’ve really missed making a good breakfast at home. We had the last of our South Carolina peaches, toast with homemade blueberry-peach jam, scrambled eggs with chopped tomatoes, and LIVERMUSH! It’s been so long since we’ve brought any back with us from North Carolina and it was so, so good!
We tried out a lunch spot we’ve heard good things about, Anderson’s Garden Center’s Showplace Cafe, that’s near our apartment. It’s in a cute garden center and has really delicious food. I had the Bella Pesto wrap. It had homemade pesto, asiago, mozzarella, chicken, romaine, bacon, red onion & sundried tomatoes. This was absolutely delicious. At first I was disappointed by the amount of romaine, but with my first bite the disappointment completely went away. So, so good. I had their pasta salad on the side & it was okay. It had too many onions for my taste, but it was still good.
G had the Dip, which is shaved rib eye, swiss, grilled onions & sauteed mushrooms with shoestring potatoes. This was delicious. The meat was so tender and the sandwich was full of flavor. The fries were pretty good, but a little too skinny & crispy for me.
Sunday was just was delicious as Saturday was! We started the day with waffles, and had homemade chicken and dumplings (everything is so much better with homemade chicken stock) for dinner.
On Saturday, after lunch we headed back to our apartment and went to a going away party for a resident and her adorable dog. Cupcakes were provided for the humans, and there was even a cake for the dogs to share.
It was hot, but we all had a lot of fun. Especially the dogs, who were pretty worn out by the end of the party. And Finley, the boxer puppy, is one of the top 10 cutest puppies of all time.
I painted a wall that has been bugging me for ages. The soul sucking beige had been driving me crazy. So, I painted the wall the same deep, bold blue that’s in our bedroom and I love, love, love it! I upgraded the look with a more substantial mirror from TJ Maxx and some baskets from Target to his some of my crap. I now love walking into the apartment!
I also sat next to Graham on the couch for three hours, bored to tears, while he watched the Panther’s game. (Go Patriots! ;)) But other than that, it was a lovely weekend! Hope everyone had a great weekend themselves!
