What I’m Loving Wednesday: The Beauty Edition

I’ve never been a big beauty product girl. I’ve always had bad skin, and nothing I’ve ever done has helped, so I just accepted it. Then I turned 30. I realized at that point that acne is what it is, but I still need to care for my skin. So, I stopped going to the tanning bed, and over the past few years, I’ve started investing in high quality skin care products. I’ve tried a few different face washes and moisturizers, and I’ve finally settled into a routine with products that I absolutely LOVE. Sleep-TightThis firming night balm from Farmacy was in last month’s Popsugar Must Have box, and I am OBSESSED. I was worried about using something that goes on oily, since I am acne prone. But this stuff is wonderful. It goes on oily, but doesn’t feel heavy, and when I wake up in the morning it has completely absorbed into my skin. And in the mornings, my skin feels amazing. I almost hate washing my face when it feels this soft and smooth.

algaeBut, thanks to my new face wash, I now LOVE washing my face. This face wash is, without a doubt, the greatest face wash in the history of the world. I don’t even care that this line is developed for men (their tagline is “Developed for men, borrowed by women”). First, it smells like a creamsicle. It lathers really well, and my skin is probably the clearest it’s ever been in my life. I use a small amount with my Clarisonic Mia (which I’ve now been using for almost a year, and I still love it), and I actually feel sad when the brush stops, and my face washing time is over.

shiseido-ibuki-refining-moisturizer-enriched-50mlI’ve been using the Farmacy balm at night before bed, and this Shiseido moisturizer in the mornings after I wash my face. I’ve tried 2-3 other moisturizers over the past two years, and this one is by far my favorite. It’s also the most expensive one I’ve used, but a little goes a long way. I’ve typically gotten about 4 months out of one container of this. The scent is light, and it never makes my skin feel greasy.

s1686344-main-LheroIt has been AGES since my skin care regimen included a toner. Maybe when I was 18, and ordered Proactive. When I decided I needed to start using a toner, I browsed Sephora, read reviews, and finally settled on this one. And I am SO glad I did. This is an amazing product. It’s thick, and a little goes a long way. I use a dime sized amount both in the morning and at night. It’s light, and isn’t sticky or heavily fragranced.

We’ve stopped buying 12 packs of Diet Coke (G and I both were drinking WAY too much). So now I have one in the morning on my way to work, and then (try to) drink water for the rest of the day. As much as I HATE water, I feel SO much better when drinking it. Even if I literally pee every 5 minutes.

Shameless plug: I made that water bottle. Check out my facebook page for more monogrammed/personalized stuff.
